Apoc 2010 Stories

Round1

Picture
Sheri Hatcher was possibly the happiest girl on earth. She had out bid everyone else on eBay for the tickets, and now she was going to the concert- with a backstage pass! On the night of the concert, she headed backstage with the rest of the babbling fangirls, and there he was; just as tall and gorgeous as he looked in the music videos on her tv and posters plastered on her walls. She knew exactly what she would say; "Oh my god, I'm your biggest fan! Can I have your autograph?" Sadly, things did not exactly go as planned, seeing as he vomited blood all over her favourtie t-shirt and promptly keeled over.

Round2

Picture
Sheri worked nearly everyday, trying to scrounge up what money and supplies she could. Her mother had fallen victim to the illness that still devastated the country, and her father had left to search out something that could perhaps stall his wife's unavoidable demise, leaving his children - Sheri and her younger brother, Myles- to fend for themselves. She only cared to protect herself and her brother and keep them both healthy, and more importantly, alive- even if that meant she had to go around her home town with a shot gun in her pocket and a ratty backpack over her shoulder, stealing from abandoned houses and stores.

Round3

"Sheri, when's Dad coming home?"
It had been months since Sheri had heard from her Father. She had stopped wondering when he'd returned, deciding it best to bury him along with everyone else; her friends from school, her mother, the neighbors, her hero... Everyone was dead, or had gone to the city in search of a better life, or a cure, or family...
"Sheri?"
She looked to her brother, Myles, who gazed back at her with big, expectant eyes. She felt her eyes brim with tears as she said, "I don't know. Myles, let's go for a walk."
The siblings made their way through their dead neighborhood, not bothering with masks anymore, and ended up in the park. It was late, but the air was crisp and the star glistened brightly overhead. "Are Mommy and Dad in heaven now?"
"I think they are, Mye." Sheri said, taking her brother's hand, and looking to the sky. "But, look,do you see those stars? The brightest in the sky?"
The boy nodded carefully.
"Well, that's Mom and Dad. They're up there, watching over us, just like before."
"How long will they be there?"
" "Until you and I go and join them, Mye. And then, those stars will be us." Sheri said solemnly, then added, "The stars are pretty, aren't they?"
Myles shrugged. "Yeah."
Sheri gave his hand a squeeze. "Let's go home, okay?"
"Okay." Myles nodded, and the two children made the long walk back through the silent town to their home, and onto their lives with the stars watching over them
